WOOHOO!! I Finally Finished it!! I thought it was going to be crap but I was really impressed with the end results. Cause honestly the picture that was taken by original photographer :iconsol--stock: was quite a challenge for me due that the photo from the beginning was taken in black and white. So I had to think of a way to color a B/W photo and I’ve never done this before so this is my first time and it blew me away. I probably spent a good 1 and half day on this piece for 1 reason. LAYOUT and TYPOGRAPHY. Yes Those two categories will haunt me no matter what project I do. I had to sit down sketch things out and then build on a concept.

How did it start?

After browsing through DA news site, I noticed that :iconobsidian-siren: was holding a pretty neat public awareness campaign on “Domestic Violence”. After reading through her awareness campaign, felt that she was right regarding that this issue is rarely brought up unlike the many other awareness campaigns that are out there; this was the least one that’s discussed.

Idea and Innovation:

Since this was the least topic discussed, I did some search on the net and noticed that a lot of the stories I read on Domestic Violence felt like a trend. Then the idea hit me. Since it’s a “Trend” but people don’t talk about lets bring it out in a shocking manner like your Teen Mag or Vogue Mag. LOL!! I mean come on! It’s a great idea! The target age groups that I’ll be hitting are around the age group of 16 and above. What a better way than to do a simple magazine ad that everybody picks them. That's because they are easy to find and they can be located in coffee shops, lounge areas, universities or your typical grocery mart.

Hope you all enjoy this piece.

Kudos to :iconsol--stock: for her amazing shot (Original Photo [link]) (I sure wished it was only a higher res image) Btw, she has great pictures in her gallery. Check her out you might find something quite interesting. ;)

Update:

- I'm going to enter this art piece for a "Worthy Causes Contest" that I learned about from :iconjazzman1989: while browsing through DA. I'm thinking of creating another art piece that's different than this method but at the moment my time is really limited to things I wanted to do. Plus I get lazy sometimes and I'm trying really hard to destroy that habit

This is an impressive work ; you really got the layout of some kind of magazine.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

:icondarkwolf80s:
LoL!! Thanks. That's the idea of this piece :XD:. Because I've read so many stories about Domestic Violence stories to the point it made me feel that this kind of thing is like a trend but nobody likes to talk about it. So I figured "Hey! Why Not? Let's discuss this issue and make it HOT." That way it's not something just leave it alone and ignore it. The problem is it out there, it exists but nobody pays any attention to it. So this is a perfect cover. LoL!

Hot, hum...More quite burning, hurting.
Recently there was a trial in court ; a 5 years old boy was killed by his step father and his mother after months of torture and mistraitements, and seven more people were also juged because they didnt do anything as they know, including 2 doctors. Make me want to scream very loud.

No link in english, sorry. Unlikely to be on cnn since I am european ; it was on tv and radio at home. It could have been online on a french newspaper but the news doesnt stay long. The facts happenned some time ago of course, the news about the jugement were about one week ago or little more, something like that. Everywhere in the world it happens, the victims are often women, children, but also aged parents...Broken bones are common as dirt, lethal injuries are not rare.
And the silence of the witnesses is a big issue, they think that it is private matter, they are afraid or dont care.

:icondarkwolf80s:
Hmm... Well you can't blame the witnesses cause I was a witness of that scene I won't keep it private all the way but I'll keep it at a minimal level by giving all the info I know of about the scene to the police. However if a journalist was to asks me to have an interview, I will but ONLY on the condition that my name remains anonymous (which is possible) cause I don't want to bring in any risks to myself for a criminal or murder coming after me from that same or different group.

:iconaspartam:
No of course I dont blame witnesses as such, but those who dont do their duty to protect by calling the police or social services, just
thinking it is private and none of their business if the neighbour beat his wife or child.

This is very nice, excellent shot!

Only... did you mean " You're a freak'n wench"?
Rather than wrench?
Or... not....

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end; then stop.

There's more to the truth than just the facts.

Philosophy, n. A route of many roads leading from nowhere to nothing.
:icondarkwolf80s:
Oh crap! You are right. I meant to say "Wench" like you said rather than "wrench". LOL! Thanks for pointing it out though. I'll make the changes on the original file right away. I'm glade you liked it ^_^.
